2. Local-First Client-Side Processing

StudyToolkit employs a privacy-first architecture. The vast majority of our calculators, PDF utilities, image editors, document converters, and scanning tools run entirely inside your local browser using client-side JavaScript, WebAssembly, and HTML5 Canvas APIs.

  • No File Uploads: When you compile a PDF, extract text with OCR, design a resume, or convert documents, your files and text inputs are never uploaded to our servers. All computational processing is executed client-side on your own device.
  • No Data Storage: Because files never leave your device, we do not store, read, index, or distribute your private documents, calculations, or personal data.
  • Local Storage Only: Some tools (such as the Resume Builder) may save drafts in your browser's localStorage for your convenience. This data remains entirely on your device and can be cleared through your browser settings at any time.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of non-personally identifiable information:

3.1 Server Log Files

Our web hosting provider automatically records standard server log files, which may include: your IP address (anonymized where possible), browser type and version, operating system, referring and exit pages, date/time stamps, and page click counts. This data is used solely to analyze aggregate traffic trends, diagnose technical issues, and improve site performance. Log files are automatically purged after 30 days and are not linked to any personally identifiable information.

3.2 Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (measurement ID: a Google Analytics 4 property) to understand how visitors interact with our website. Google Analytics collects data through cookies and provides us with aggregated, anonymized reports about page views, session duration, bounce rates, and geographic distribution. The specific cookies used include:

  • _ga — Distinguishes unique users. Expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_* — Used by Google Analytics to persist session state. Expires after 2 years.
  • _gid — Distinguishes unique users. Expires after 24 hours.
  • _gat — Used to throttle request rate. Expires after 1 minute.

5. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising

10. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

StudyToolkit is designed for students aged 13 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Our tools themselves do not collect or transmit any personal data as they operate entirely client-side. However, third-party advertising and analytics services may set cookies as described in this policy. Users under 18 should review this policy with a parent or guardian.

Our website is hosted on global cloud infrastructure. Third-party services we use (Google Analytics, Google AdSense) are operated by Google LLC, which processes data globally.
